Exchange at ESA

INCOMING EXCHANGE STUDENTS

Exchange and Erasmus students are, according to their academic level, admitted to the Undergraduate program (3rd year of architectural studies) or the Graduate program (4th year of architectural studies).

Undergraduate Program (Licence 3 / Semestre 1)

The evaluation of the student complies with the ECTS (European Credits Transfer System). The exchange student will have to complete the following units to validate the required 30 EC of this semester :

  • Design studio (10 EC)
  • Plastic Arts (5 EC)
  • Environmental Approach in Urban studies (2.5 EC)
  • Landscape studies (2.5 EC)
  • Fire prevention (2.5 EC)
  • Engineering (2.5 EC)
  • Revit (2.5 EC)
  • Geomatics Cartography (2.5 EC)

In addition to these units, other subjects can be selected by the exchange student. This supplementary list would have to be accepted by the studies department, which will define the number of corresponding credits.

Graduate Program (Master 1 / Semestre 1)

The evaluation of the student complies with the ECTS (European Credits Transfer System). The exchange student will have to complete some of the units from the following modules to validate the required 30 EC of this semester :

  • Common Core / Fundamentals
  • Study Domain
  • Optional Formats
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Application material

All applications must include the following material :

  • Completed application form
  • Portfolio of academic work
  • Statement of purpose
  • Résumé / Curriculum Vitae
  • Official Transcripts
  • French level attestation (TEF, TCF, DELF, DALF,...)
  • Photo ID

Upon reception and examination of all application material, a letter of acceptance will be issued.

Term Dates

Spring Semester : late February to late June
Fall Semester : late August to late December

FRENCH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

The Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture does not require any test level or certificate in French from the incoming exchange students.
Nevertheless, students must be aware that a minimum B1 level in French proficiency is highly recommended in order to benefit from the programs at ESA and from life in Paris.

HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Students incoming from a European Union country should apply for a free EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) issued by their national insurance service or by a local health insurance company in their home country.
International students incoming from other countries outside the EU should apply for the French National Insurance (Sécurité Sociale) or a certificate of health assurance.
